After having examined and discussed 5,214 products ranging from furniture to fashion, which were submitted from no less than 57 different countries, the international jury of the Red Dot Award, which is composed of 14 trade journalists and design professors, decided to honor the design of the Adhaesio watch created by the German brand Meistersinger.
Indeed, the watch manufacturer founded in 2001 and based in Münster (Germany) has been presented with yet another coveted award for the design of one of its single hand watches. In addition to winning the iF Design Award, the Adhaesio, which shows the time in two different time zones as well as the date, has now also received the prestigious Red Dot Award 2016.
In the tradition of fine German watches, MeisterSinger timepieces have all clean lines, unique style, and they all highlight simple functionality like hour and minutes with an original time display. More than anything the brand respects the high standard of excellence that is synonymous with German products.
For sure, what makes these watches so different from everything else in the market is their outstanding perspective on how to display the passing of time.
When designing the Adhaesio, MeisterSinger founder and designer Manfred Brassler remained true to the display principle of his single-hand watches, using only the hour hand to indicate the time on easily readable minute markers and typographically well designed indices which ensures that the time is clearly readable.
The brand which is well known for their single hand watches creates also some timepieces with different complications. Indeed, for years now, MeisterSinger has developed timepieces with additional functions and they have always managed to find ways that embody the essence of its single hand watches, both technically and in terms of design.
The winning watch, the Adhaesio, and its second time zone has been introduced during Baselworld 2015.
The reading principle consists of a single hand that allows you to see the hour and the approximate minute. Additionally the watch has two disks that rotate within the dial and that present 2 extra features. The first disc that turns clockwise display the date below the 12 index and the second which also rotate clockwise gives the time in a second time zone on a 24-hour scale, which the wearer can personally select.
The information is displayed in contrasting colors. The center and the outer edge of the dial with the minute markers of the award-winning Adhaesio are colored dark blue with a sunburst finish. The two disks are designed with blue and black digits respectively on a white background.
At the heart of the Adhaesio you’ll find the self-winding movement ETA 2893. The local time, the second time zone and the date can all be easily set thanks to the crown at 3 o’clock. The movement delivers 42 hours of power reserve and can be seen through the sapphire caseback. The whole is encased in a 43 x 13,1 mm polished stainless steel case.
This piece shows that the German brand can present unique timepieces made of a very original display of the time, which is also practical thanks to its complications and easy to read at the same time. Everything for a very reasonable price of 2.598 euro’s, which will appeal watch enthusiasts who love stylish and astonishing timepieces.
