The North-American family-owned, Détente Watch Group based in Connecticut, is since two decades importer of Eastern European and Russian watches. The brands that Détente Watch Group represents in the US include Vostok-Europe, Sturmanskie and Tsikolia.
The company was involved in the design and development of the watches dedicated to North America, that’s why they decided to use their knowledges and created their own micro-brand – Pramzius, a name inspired by the ruler of time from the Baltic pantheon of mythological gods.
The first watch of this new brand, the Trans-Siberian Railroad, is a relative big watch of 48 mm diameter in 316L Surgical Grade Stainless Steel. The shape of it is an interesting pocket watch metamorphosed in an unusual wrist watch through an innovative strap system. The watch, covered with a K1 mineral crystal, or optional a sapphire for an additional price, has a beautiful crown inspired by locomotive smoke stack which completes perfectly the case’s satin finish.
A lovely detail can be found on the back of the case – a 3D relief of a Trans-Siberian Locomotive together with the brand’s logo and the limited series number xxx-999, since each of the three variants is limited to 999 pieces. The case has a water resistance of 10atm.
The watch variation comes from the dial types: antique white, sun-ray blue and black, all with an open heart at 6 o’clock, revealing the beating heart underneath. The white version is completely covered with a bright Super LumiNova with Art-Deco printed indexes and Arabic numerals, reminding of the vintage inspiration of the watch and featuring spectacular blue lancette hours and minutes hands. The blue dial version has a beautiful light playing sunburst dial with Super LumiNova printing and hands with Super LumiNova filling. The darkest version has also a sunburst dial, but due to the black matt lacquering, the sun-ray effect is not easily visible.
The open heart dial offers a view to the 3Hz / 21,600vph beating heart of the automatic NH38 movement. This movement with 24 jewels has a precision of -20 to +40 seconds per day, 41 hours of power reserve and is supplied by Seiko SII.
This pocket watch inspired timepiece is offered with 24mm wide Bund leather (fully underneath the watch), wide grain screw-on leather and Zulu style nylon strap with pin buckle system. Optional, you can have a nicely manufactured Cherry wood veneer desk stand that can be used to transform this watch into a desk-clock.
The Pramzius Trans-Siberian Railroad is an interesting timepiece that will attract a lot of curious people, offering the perfect occasions to impress your friends with its unusual construction, beautiful case-back and “cool” inspiration.
You don’t have to be a pocket watch lover to enjoy this timepiece.
The Kickstarter campaign is live ’till the 8th of May and it is already 110% funded. If you hurry, you can still have one of these watches at a price starting at $269 (from a retail price between $459 to $509).
