I think that the title of this article says it all… The Feynman Cove is just a bomb. Some months ago I wrote a review about the One Eclipse and I was already speechless about the quality and the beauty of this piece. But now, the Cove… oh guys this watch is a stunner.
I received the piece some weeks ago and I can’t take it off my wrist anymore. It’s probably one of best watches I had the chance to try this year.
The watch that Yong Keong Lim sent me is the Cove Vintage. At first I would prefer the Founder’s Edition (green) or the Eclypse (blue) because I really like colorful watches. But when I opened the parcel and saw this deep black watch, I immediately fell in love with it.
Actually it’s a diving watch but with 200m of water resistance I advise you not to go swimming. By cons the FKM Grade Rubber strap is just perfect and fits perfectly the wrist. The dual crown design immediately hints that there is an internal rotating bezel. And indeed, the one in the bottom is there to set the time while the one in the top is there to use this rotating bezel while diving.
With 40mm in diameter and 12,6mm in thickness this piece is just perfectly proportioned while usually a dive watches are strong and heavy, here you have something that you can wear everytime and even with a suit. Yes, it looks more like a dress watch than a tool watch.
The case is made of 316L stainless steel and have a domed sapphire crystal with 5 layers of AR coating, and a flat sapphire exhibition case back. This one reveals a decorated ETA 2895-2 Top-grade automatic movement that offers an impressive 50 hours of power reserve.
The lugs have a gentle curve which further enhances the wearability of this piece and help it sit close to the wrist.
The rotor of the movement is well decorated with geneva stripes and what’s interesting is that the color changes for every version of this watch. On the vintage black this one is like gold and you have the engraved Cove word on it.
Waves are the theme of this watch. From the curved lines of the case, the decoration of the rubber strap, to the wonderful dial.
On the center of this one you can see waves that are filled with black lume. This lume looks black in the day, and glows a fluorescent green in the dark and gives a jawdropping effect.
Separating the inner and outer sections of the dial you can see a raised circular section which sits above the black outer dial. On this one there is a printed lumed minute track.
The dial is striking and really captures the same vibe as their first model. You can see that they have developed their own unique style and have stuck with it. Of course this dial is completed with a small nameplate placed between 4 and 5 with the brand name printed on it. The hand of the small second is also a little wave and it gives a plus to the whole dial.
In terms of aesthetic the Feynman Cove is a real success. I honestly like everything about it.
As said before, for everyday use it’s perfect and you can enjoy all the subtle details of the dial in any light and you can wear it easily with any outfits.
Well I’m a fan of this piece and of Feynman… they only launched 2 collections now but I’m already waiting for the next one.
